Partial or complete removable dentures can be an effective solution for individuals with multiple missing teeth, but for patients who prefer a more secure fit for their dental restoration, implant-supported dentures are a great alternative option. Instead of adhesives, implant-supported dentures offered by the providers at Camden Dental Care are anchored in place with titanium posts installed in the jaw. This means that the implant dentures won't slip or move out of place, even when eating or speaking. With more support and security, patients with implanted dentures can rest assured that their dentures will stay where they should be. To learn more about implant-supported dentures and other dental restoration treatments we offer for patients in Elk Grove, CA, call our office to schedule an appointment with Dr. Raju Dhariwal.

Before beginning the treatment, Dr. Dhariwal will conduct a comprehensive examination of your oral health using digital x-rays to closely assess the gums and jawbone. If your gums or jawbone are not strong enough to hold the implants, then a gum and/or bone graft surgery can be performed. Once the grafted area has healed and is sufficiently dense, the implants can be placed.

Prior to your implant surgery, a member of our team will apply an anesthetic to numb the treatment area. If you discussed other sedation options during your initial consultation, those may also be administered at this time to help you feel more at ease during treatment. Dr. Dhariwal will make incisions in your gums and insert posts in the holes in the jawbone. For dentures, four or more implants are usually needed per arch. The incisions will be stitched with the upper portion of the implant showing above the gumline. It usually takes 4 – 6 months for the gums and jaw to heal and fully accept the implants. Once the posts are integrated and your custom dentures are ready, you will return to our office so Dr. Dhariwal can connect the implants and adjust the shape and fit.

Friendly front desk staff and the hygienist are very   helpful in answering any questions you have.

As always, very nice experience at Dr D’s office today with their hygienist, Riz! Reviewed my MD history before she started my procedure that led to me to being pre medicated first before we got started, even provided blanket so I’m comfortable. As always the ladies at the front desk were all so sweet and caring. Thank you for your great staff Dr. D and to you too! /rosan

A.A. Yelp

The ABSOLUTE BEST dental office in the world. The staff make you feel like family, and they make you feel loved in one of the scariest places to go to LOL I have avoided the dentist for 15 years prior to coming to Camden due to fear of pain of dental care. I had bad tooth pain and looked for offices, and Camden had 5 stars 🌟 from everyone. I'm so glad I am their patient.

Friendly staff and on-time appointments.  I am usually here for regular cleaning and they are on time.  They work well with my insurance to provide me the proper coverage.

About Us
How long do implant-supported dentures last?

On average, implant-supported dentures can last 5 – 15 years or even longer, depending on various factors. Factors that can affect the lifespan of implant-supported dentures include your oral hygiene practices, general health, and bone density. During each of your future visits to our Elk Grove, CA office, Dr. Dhariwal will check on the condition of your dentures and advise if replacements or additional treatments are needed.

How do you clean and maintain implant-supported dentures?

Proper cleaning habits can help extend the life of your dentures and prevent oral health problems. Start by gently brushing your dentures at least twice daily using a soft-bristle toothbrush and a nonabrasive denture cleaner or mild soap. Avoid using abrasive toothpaste or hard-bristle brushes, which can damage the denture material. In addition to cleaning the dentures, it's essential to maintain good oral hygiene by gently brushing your gums, tongue, and remaining natural teeth (if applicable) with a soft-bristle toothbrush. Lastly, schedule regular check-ups with the team at Camden Dental Care for professional cleanings and examinations to ensure the optimal condition of your implant-supported dentures.

What foods should I avoid with implant-supported dentures?

While implant-supported dentures provide stability and improved chewing function, avoiding certain foods will help to prevent damage or discomfort. Hard and sticky foods can put excessive pressure on the dentures and compromise their integrity. Therefore, you should avoid chewing on hard candies, ice, popcorn kernels, nuts, and tough meats. Sticky foods like chewing gum, caramel, and taffy can also cause the dentures to become dislodged or attract debris, making them harder to clean. Additionally, hot foods and beverages can potentially warp the denture material, so it's best to allow them to cool before consumption. If you have any concerns or questions regarding whether or not a specific food is good for implant-supported dentures, Dr. Dhariwal can provide recommendations.

Does dental insurance cover implant-supported dentures?

Dental insurance coverage for implant-supported dentures can vary depending on your specific insurance plan. Some dental insurance plans may offer coverage for implant-supported dentures, while others may have certain limitations or exclusions. It's crucial to review your insurance policy or contact your insurance provider directly to understand the extent of your coverage. In some cases, dental insurance plans may cover a portion of the cost of implant-supported dentures. During your consultation at Camden Dental Care, a member of our team will provide a breakdown detailing the cost of your treatment, including your potential out-of-pocket expenses.
